Can Dementia Be Prevented and Memory Decline Reversed?

Can Alzheimer’s and other types of Dementia causing disorders be prevented or arrested? Can memory abilities be improved in seniors? Such was the subject of a recent article we wrote for the Deseret News. One of the leading online newspapers in the Intermountain West.

One of the challenges that seniors and family members often face, when they begin to experience memory loss, is the prevailing idea among many health care providers, that there’s not much one can do to arrest, let alone reverse memory loss or other cognitive decline.

At the very time when they need to be taking corrective actions to ensure or improve their cognitive health and memory, many seniors are told, by people who should know, that there is really not much they can do to avoid or improve this condition. That, however, does not usually take into account the latest research findings on this subject.

If you know someone who needs encouragement that there is indeed much that one can do to reduce their risk for dementia, or reverse their cognitive decline, you may want to share this article with them.

Additionally, January is traditionally a time to survey our situation, make changes, and if possible improve our quality of life. With that thought in mind, if you or someone you love is having memory problems, now would be a good time, if you/they haven’t done this already, to take our Personal Assessment, to identify possible obstacles to memory improvement.
