Gut Health Essentials

How Well Is Your Food Being Digested?

As important as a healthy diet is, you could be eating the healthiest foods on the planet, but they may not do you much good, and you may not get better, if those foods aren’t being digested well and assimilated into your body; because almost any gut or digestive track problem will result in the reduced break down and absorption of nutrients.

Moreover, if your body isn’t adequately breaking down these foods, and extracting their nutrients (a very complicated process), they obviously are not going to make it to your brain were they are needed.

So in addition to good nutrition you need a healthy gut, i.e. digestive system.
Therefore, if you have ANY type of digestive issues like:

  • Indigestion, acid reflux, GERD or “heart burn,”
  • Take an antacid like Prilosec/omeprazole, TUMS or related meds
  • Bloating, flatulence or excess gas
  • A leaky gut
  • IBS or IBD
  • Colitis, Crohn’s or SIBO or
  • Over 40, with cognitive issues but don’t take a good probiotic daily
(Note: Probiotics have been shown to help reduce anxiety and depression as well as improving memory and other cognitive abilities – see article linked to below)

Then we invite you to check out this link to some of the best info available on the Digestion and Assimilation of Nutrients, to learn more effective strategies for arresting or correcting any of those issues.

There are a lot of conflicting opinions in this field but one thing all researchers are agreed on is the sooner individuals begin learning and taking steps to improve their brain health the easier and less expensive it will be.
