What To Do

To ensure oxygen and nutrients are effectively circulated to your brain

  1. Identify at least 3 different physical activities that you would be willing to do on an ongoing basis.
  2. Find and invite a friend, family member or dog willing to exercise with you.
  1. Determine how you will apply the Sabata protocol, or interval training principles, to your workout, so you can slowly build in periods during which you can exercise faster or harder for a predetermined short period of time (not less than 20 seconds nor more than 1 minute) and then go faster for that period then slower, then faster, slower, faster slower etc, until it’s less difficult for you to go faster and harder, for a longer interval before reducing your pace.
  1. Identify at least 2 activities that you can do that would combine physical activity with a mental and social activity, like dancing. Then do one of these at least weekly.
  1. Determine how you can get in at least 4 “exercise” sessions lasting at least 15 minutes using the interval training protocol, or 20 minutes doing a brisk activity, on at least 4 different days in a week.
  2. Don’t stay seated in the same place for more than an hour at a time throughout the day.
  3. Practice deep breathing for at least 10 min per day.

There are a lot of conflicting opinions in this field but one thing all researchers are agreed on is the sooner individuals begin learning and taking steps to improve their brain health the easier and less expensive it will be.
