Options & Resources

The only drawback to signing up for Dr. Bredesen’s program is that you need to make a commitment to pay $75 per month for the next year. And the blood work he recommends is typically around $900 and not usually covered by insurance in that plan. It’s important to understand, however, that if you or a family member has Alzheimer’s or is sliding into dementia (more serious decline) and if the requisite actions are not taken NOW, in all probability your/their cognitive abilities, including the ability to care for their self will continue to deteriorate until eventually they will need skilled nursing care, which costs around $70 per hour if done daily at home, or require admission to an inpatient memory care center, which usually cost between $4000 – $10,000 per month. And this is not covered by Medicare nor most insurance – unless you have been paying into a long-term care plan.

The other 2 options, if funds are fixed and tight, are to find a doctor trained in the Bredesen Protocol, who is also covered by your insurance. In which case your visits to the doctor and labs should be covered by insurance, except perhaps a small co-pay. And then your doctor, and perhaps a coach, should be able to help you, along with the resources on this website, to develop a plan, to address the primary issues contributing to the decline.

If you cannot find a doctor trained in this program in your area, we would recommend clicking on the tab above marked Personal Assessment, or click here. This will take you to a questionnaire for assessing more than 60 possible contributing factors, based on the research of experts from throughout the world. Identifying contributing factors or “causes” is the first step in the Bredesen plan to arrest and reverse decline. It’s hard to fix a problem like this, without knowing what’s contributing to it. Your answers to these questions will then generate a plan for printout, on what to do to address or neutralize these factors. This printout is not as colorful nor as in-depth, as the ReCODE assessment report generated in Dr. Bredesen’s online program – which includes lab values. However, for a nominal fee of just $29 it will enable you to identify about 80% of the major contributors to any cognitive decline, and provide links and references to detailed instructions on what you likely ought to be doing to address these contributing factors, and other resources that can assist you in developing and following an effective plan.
